NOW AT ARBEITSZIMMER THEALIT

During her residency, Sarah Lüdemann (Beauham) will use her time to explore an (artistic) research question, which she formulates as follows: “During my residency at thealit, I will explore the term ‘queer’ as a form of constant transformation, applying it to the concept of category itself. Within this process, textual modules will be created that are not only to be read, but also made spatially perceptible.” A quote from a lecture by Gertrude Stein, Composition as Explanation, 1926, precedes a project outline, similar to a motto.

“Beginning again and again is a natural thing even when there is a series. Beginning again and again and again explaining composition and time is a natural thing. It is understood by this time that everything is the same except composition and time, composition and the time of the composition and the time in the composition. Everything is the same except composition and as the composition is different and always going to be different everything is not the same. Everything is not the same as the time when of the composition and the time in the composition is different. The composition is different, that is certain.”

Within her artistic work Sarah Lüdemann (Beauham) investigates into (human) system structures, bodies and chimeras. She abstracts her findings into elements and choreographies for multi-media sculptures and text. Lüdemann (Beauham) studied Fine Art in Oslo and at Central Saint Martins, London (UK), and is currently researching into modular sculptures as part of an Artistic Research Program at the University of the Arts Bremen and the University of Groningen. Since 2017 she has been lecturing at Bremen University and the University of the Arts. Her work has been exhibited widely and internationally e.g. at Printed Matter, New York (USA) / HDLU, Zagreb (HR) / Octobersalon, Belgrade (RS) / Ventolin Art Space, Melbourne (AUS). Her works are held in various collections including New York Public Library (US) / Städtische Galerie Bremen (DE) / MOMENTUM Worldwide Video Collection (DE) and Piracy Book Collection, AND Publishing (UK). https://sarahluedemann.com/

The workshops will take place at Arbeitszimmer thealit and are open to anyone interested.Depending on needs, they can be held in English. We can assist each other with translation. Registration is appreciated, spontaneous participants are also very welcome!

The “Working Group on Endings” (Astor Roth, Charlotte Perka, Jakob Karpus, Ruxin Liu) s a temporary constellation that emerges from a shared reflection process on endings: The endings of projects they are invested in, how to continue (working) after, and the transformative potentiality of actively catalysing endings.
